A BILL to amend article one, chapter twenty-five of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twenty-one-a, relating to providing additional compensation
to employees of the department of corrections who have moved
to Mt. Olive in anticipation of employment in the new
prison.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article one, chapter twenty-five of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twenty-one-a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 1. ORGANIZATION AND INSTITUTIONS.
§25-1-21a. Additional compensation for corrections employees at
Mt. Olive.
Any employee who was hired or who was transferred to
employment to the prison facility located in Mt. Olive, who moved
in or around Mt. Olive in anticipation of employment since July,
one thousand nine hundred ninety-four, but who was not called to
employment, as the result of delays in commencing operation of
the prison facility, shall receive as additional compensation to
the employee's salary the sum of five hundred dollars.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide for extra
compensation for corrections employees that were hired to work
at, or who transferred to, the new prison facility in Mt. Olive,
but because of delays in commencement of operation at the
facility, have suffered financial hardships.
